Universal Pre-K Kiddie Care Early Learning Center

Our Pre-k program has been developed to ensure kindergarten readiness. Basic program goals have been developed to promote the emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of each child.

Program Goals:

  • To provide a nurturing, and calm atmosphere where self-concept is enhanced, independence is encouraged and expectations are made clear.
  • To provide an atmosphere where the foundation of respect for others is established.
  • To build self-confidence and a sense of self-worth by allowing choices.
  • To provide a warm accepting environment.
  • To aid in the development of problem-solving skills.
  • To provide a wide variety of activities within a routine where cooperative play is encouraged. Curriculum areas of art, science, cooking, movement, practical life, dramatic play, language, and fine motor activities.
  • To have each child use their body in a variety of active ways by participating in fine and large motor activities both indoor and outdoors.
  • To be supportive of parents, encouraging involvement and communication.

Our curriculum is continually evolving. Our teachers create lessons in accordance with different learning styles of each student. We follow up to date NYS curriculum requirements.

Our program is administered and staffed in such a way as to ensure continuity of care and relationships among teachers and children. The group size and the ratio of teachers to children is limited to enable individualize and age appropriate programming.

Kiddie Care places a high priority on children’s literacy and reading success. Literacy involves a range of activities and behaviors related to written language, including those undertaken by very young children who depend on the cooperation of others, and creative play. We feel the meaningful part of reading and writing occurs when children talk to each other, and have good literature read to them.

Kiddie Care also uses themes as a means of promoting interests and content. Generally, themes are selected cooperatively by children and teachers and are used as a means of promoting ongoing interest in the literary process.

We have several New York State certified teachers on staff to teach our Universal Pre-K program. Our teachers as well as the assistant teachers are all fingerprinted, cleared through the NYS SCR (child abuse & maltreatment), cleared through SEL, have up to date physicals, are CPR & First Aid trained, and take 30 hours of education training every 2 years. Our teacher assistants will be responsible for the general supervision and management of the classroom and will work in cooperation with and under the supervision of the teacher.
